Craig J. Watkins

Managing Partner, Cornerstone Financial Group

Craig J. Watkins has been in the insurance and financial services since 1980, striving to provide the finest service and advice to his clients.  He attended the University of California, Berkeley on an athletic scholarship while studying business and accounting and is always continuing his career-related education studies.  Craig is a registered representative and an investment advisor representative of USA Financial Securities.  He is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and the Managing Partner of Cornerstone Financial Group in Walnut Creek, California.

 

Thorough and innovative, Craig demonstrates a seasoned understanding in meeting the needs of high net worth individuals, successful professionals, corporations, and business owners.  He focuses on tax advantaged asset accumulation and preservation strategies.  Additionally, Craig’s emphasis also includes investment asset allocation, insurance protection, beneficiary planning, and qualified retirement plans.

 

Craig combines professional dedication and personal commitment to offer creative financial services in the context of a personal, caring relationship.  He believes that successful client relationships are built upon trust, personalized service, and consistent results.  Craig provides comprehensive and reliable investment advice and regular communications.

 

Sharing his knowledge and expertise with others, Craig has presented seminars on financial strategies, time management, mutual funds and asset allocation, and occasionally speaks at local high schools.  Active within his community, he is involved in youth programs and coaches football at a local high school. In his leisure, he enjoys playing golf, riding his Harley Davidson, game hunting, fishing, and sports.  Craig has raised three daughters and resides in Contra Costa County, California.


Amber-Rose Freitas

Office Manager/Director of Client Relations

Amber-Rose Freitas is the Office Manager/Director of Client Relations of Cornerstone Financial Group, and has been with the firm since August of 2009. She is a licensed California Insurance Agent and is currently working on obtaining her RIA and notary license. Prior to her employment at Cornerstone Financial Group, she was a Junior Account and Project Manager for Development Company.

 

Mrs. Freitas attended St. Mary’s College of California where she studied Business Administration and was part of the Financial Services honors program. She is newly married and lives in East Bay, California with her husband and chocolate lab. In her free time she enjoys outdoor activities such as boating, kayaking, and hiking.

 

Margaret Fergerson

Administratrive Assistant

Margaret has recently joined the team at Cornerstone Financial Group in Walnut Creek Ca.

 

You will see her as you walk in the office at the front desk where she will greet you with a smile and advise Craig that you have arrived for your appointment. She is eager to support the needs of our clients by being the point person to schedule meetings, distributing informational materials to clients, maintaining client data files and their statement records. She also handles paperwork to help accounts transfer, withdrawals, reports and other vital account activities. She often acts as a liaison between clients and their various financial institutions.

 

Margaret attended West Valley College in Saratoga Ca, where she received her AA degree. After School she moved abroad to Brazil for 7 years, while there she taught English as a second language. She is bilingual, being fluent in English, Portuguese, as well as some Spanish and Italian. She is a native of the Bay Area and has 2 grown children. In her spare time she enjoys motorcycle riding, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

CONSUMER SENTIMENT HITS A 4-YEAR PEAK
 
May’s initial Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment survey came in with an index reading of 77.8, the highest mark since January 2008. The current economic conditions sub-index rose to 87.3 from last month’s final 82.9 reading.

UNEMPLOYMENT DOWN TO 8.1%
The jobless rate dipped 0.1% in April, but Wall Street didn’t exactly cheer about it as just 115,000 non-farm jobs were added to the economy. Economists polled by Briefing.com thought payrolls would expand by 162,000.

Q1 GDP: +2.2%
 
The federal government’s initial estimate disappointed many analysts, even with plenty of potential for upward revision later. After all, Q4 2011 had brought growth of 3.0%. Economists polled by Briefing.com expected the Q1 estimate to come in at +2.5%.
