Chocolate Cherry Dump Cake
Prep Time: 5 minutes - Cook Time: 45 minutes - Total Time: 65 minutes - Yield: 12 servings
Ingredients:
- 2 cans cherry pie filling (20 oz each)
- 1 box chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz)
- ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted (1½ sticks)
- Vanilla ice cream (for serving)
- Red candy melts (optional, for heart garnish)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F and spray a 9x13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- Spread the cherry pie filling evenly onto the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Sprinkle the chocolate cake mix on top of the pie filling and spread evenly to cover.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix, making your best attempt to spread it out evenly over the entire surface.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until set and the top is lightly golden.
- Remove from oven and cool for 15 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
To make Red Hearts (optional):
Line a cutting board with wax paper and set aside. Add a handful of candy melts to a resealable sandwich bag but do not seal. Microwave for 30 seconds at 50% power. Flip the bag over and repeat. Knead the bag and microwave for 30 seconds more at 50% power. Knead until smooth. Snip the tip of the bag and pipe hearts onto the wax paper. Let set to harden.
Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
